A Moon Night

This painting was inspired by a profound connection with nature.

The most significant part of it was painted outdoors, beneath a tree on the island of Zakynthos, Greece. The plants depicted are native to the island. The rooster symbolizes vigilance and light, while the mountain sheep ram embodies mystical power. The ram is a potent symbol, representing determination, strength, and leadership. To me, it appears as a triumphant figure, embodying the power to overcome any challenge.

The chicken, or hen, introduces the egg to the world. The egg is an ancient symbol in many traditions, representing fertility, new beginnings, breaking free from confining circumstances, and personal rebirth. It signifies a new state, project, perspective, or way of seeing the world. It's no coincidence that eggs have been widely used in African initiation rituals.

This painting serves as a reminder of the distinct feeling of being far from the concrete and stress of city life. It aims to give the observer the sense of a tranquil summer night on an island, nestled between the sea and the mountains.
